1. Metro Parent’s Coverkids Search is free of charge and open to children between the ages 2-12 at time of entry.  Entrants must be residents of the state of Michigan. Coverkids winners in previous years or children who have appeared on the cover of Metro Parent are not eligible to enter. Children and relatives of employees of Metro Parent, BLAC or MESP are not eligible to enter.

2. Each child may be entered only once. Multiple submissions of the same child will result in the child being disqualified. Entries can be submitted by parents or legal guardians via the internet or by mail and must include a non-professional photo of the child taken within three months of submission. Photos submitted electronically must be maximum 2MB size. To enter by mail, send a SASE to CoverKids Search 2014, 22041 Woodward Avenue, Ferndale, MI 48220 for the official rules and entry form. By entering your child, you agree that your child’s photo or likeness may be used in perpetuity by Metro Parent, BLAC or MESP and displayed on or be used for promotional purposes by Metro Parent, BLAC or MESP in print, on television or digitally by means of technology now in use or to be developed in the future.

3. Children will be judged based on their photogenic quality, personality that radiates through the camera, poise, and ability to follow direction, as determined in the sole discretion by a panel of three professional photographers.

4. One Grand Prize Winner will be selected to appear on the cover of the June 2014 issue of Metro Parent magazine, in a MESP advertisement and in a television spot to be aired on television and will be awarded $1,529 which will be deposited in a MESP college savings account.  The Grand Prize Winner must be available for cover shoots and other promotional assignments in the Metro Detroit area between April 29 and May 15, 2014 or may forfeit his/her prize award.

5. One hundred finalists will be selected to attend a live Coverkids audition in April 2014 in the Metro Detroit area (exact date and place to be determined). From this group, we will select 6 Winners and 10 Runners Up from which one Readers Choice winner will be chosen through an online contest.  Finalists invited to attend the audition may not wear make-up or costumes. Entrants who arrive in costume or wearing make up may be disqualified. Casual, comfortable attire is encouraged for all entrants. Finalists who are not able to attend the live audition will be disqualified.

6. Winners will appear on a cover of Metro Parent magazine some time between June 2014 and May 2015. Metro Parent Publishing Group reserves the right to determine the issue on which each winner will appear. If a winner is not available for a cover shoot within a reasonable time frame as determined by Metro Parent Publishing Group they may forfeit their right to be on a cover.

7. The Grand Prize Winner will be notified on or about April 29, 2014. The six Winners and ten Readers Choice Nominees will be announced in the June 2014 issue of Metro Parent. The Readers Choice Winner will be announced in the July 2014 issue of Metro Parent and on MetroParent.com.

8. The deadline for entries is midnight, March 31, 2014.
